Our 75th anniversary celebrations continue with a special edition of Singers Showcase, featuring some of Berklee’s most outstanding vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers, arrangers, track producers, and engineers. To curate the concert and commemorate over seven decades of extraordinary music-making, members of the Berklee community were invited to submit their favorite songs from 1945 to 2021. The resulting repertoire traces many musical eras, genres, and artists. Join us for a retrospective and present-day glimpse into the deep and diverse well of popular music that has graced our stages, filled our practice rooms, and topped our digital playlists. Produced by Maureen McMullan ’09, the performance features a full rhythm section, horns, strings, background vocalists, and dancers. Timeless celebrates Berklee College of Music’s 75th anniversary in a late-night show format with alumni hosts Shea Rose B.M. '11 and Simone Scazzocchio B.M. '10. A chair and faculty house band featuring musical director and pianist George Russell Jr, saxophonist Tia Fuller, trumpeter Tanya Darby, bassist Danny Mo and drummer Yoron Israel will take us through the musical history of this celebrated institution with guests Roger Brown, Nichelle Mungo, Eguie Castrillo, Rosemary Dowling, Kurt Douglas, Michelle Chasse and many more. A curated student band with vocalist Esperanza Delgado, pianist Estefania Nunez Villamandos, and bassist Patricia Ligia Gomez Ferolla will be featured during the evening. Berklee's Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and the Black History Celebration Committee present a virtual performance celebrating Black artists, reflecting on Black history while moving towards an empowered future. Ensemble and Dance Division faculty Tia Fuller, Ruka White, and Val Jeanty will draw on inspiration from gospel, soul, jazz, and dance, showcasing the talents of Berklee's diverse student community. Along with a host and student speakers, this event will educate, heal, and empower through words, dance, and music. After the success of their Signature Series concert, The Show, held earlier this year, Rob Lewis ’94 and Ash Rodriguez B.M. ’10 are back with a new installment to celebrate Berklee College of Music's 75th anniversary. Featuring the inspired works of some of the most diverse and multifaceted student creators in the world, this virtual experience will represent the range of creativity at Berklee, from instrumentalists, arrangers, composers, singers, and rappers to DJs, songwriters, visual designers, dancers, and more. Lewis and Rodriguez will unveil these works live across Berklee's social media platforms. In recent years, Lewis (Christina Aguilera, Toni Braxton, Nickelodeon, MTV/VH1) and Rodriguez (Lana Del Rey, John Legend, Robin Thicke) have returned to Berklee to help cultivate the institution's next generation of artists and creators. In celebration of Berklee College of Music's 75th anniversary, Venezuelan artist Oscar D'León will perform a virtual concert with Berklee students. Known as the "Pharaoh of Salsa,” D'León was named Best Salsa Artist at the Venezuela Music Awards in 2014, and has had a successful touring and recording career that has spanned 50 years. D'León will perform one song with a large student ensemble, and then students will pay tribute to D'León and the music of Venezuela. The concert is produced by Oscar Stagnaro, professor in the Bass Department, and Matthew Nicholl, dean of the Professional Writing and Music Technology Division, with dance choreography by Mila Thigpen, chair of the Dance Division at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. In celebration of Berklee College of Music's 75 anniversary, alumni Terri Lyne Carrington and Danilo Pérez perform a virtual concert in duo, and with students from the institutes they founded and direct, Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice and Berklee Global Jazz Institute respectively. Carrington and Pérez met at Berklee in 1980, and first performed together in the mid-1990's with Mike Stern and John Patitucci. They have each led successful careers winning Grammy awards, Downbeat Critics Polls, and honorary doctorate degrees.
