A fantastic live performance of the songs from Encanto, brilliantly staged, choreographed, conducted, and performed, complete with an intro from Lin Manuel Miranda. All the vocalists are great, especially Stephanie Beatriz who absolutely killed it with her performance of "The Family Madrigal", as well as all her other songs, of course. Jessica Darrow is also a standout, but that may just be because "Surface Pressure" is my favourite song in the whole movie. That being said, it was great to see almost ALL the original performers back in the roles they played so well in the movie. Which brings me to the only real disappointment for me: there's no John Leguizamo. If he'd been there to perform Bruno's parts, it would have been perfect. As it is, though, his absence is only one small hiccup in what is otherwise a stellar show.
The show was excellent, but there was one thing that distracted us the whole time and pulled us out of the immersion, the entire time! Very frustrating because the music and the show was excellent otherwise. The distraction at every appearance ruining the whole immersion was the character of Luisa. She was standing out unnecessarily and was complety out of sync with the rest of the singers in terms of similarity to the movie characters and costume (or the lack of). The quality of the singer playing her character was also the worst in the whole show. Our child was dissapointed and was pointing that out the whole time, that she does not look like the character of Luisa in the movie. Otherwise... a 10 Star show and for sure looks way better being present there.
This is by far my favourite Disney show I'm writing this as a 37 year old guy who has watched it with his daughter 3 times, and hasn't got bored of it yet. It is brilliant. The costumes, the lighting, the graphics, the singing, the horeography, the music. Beautiful!!! I admire it from the technical side. To do such a concert, live, the back of the artists.... Also, all that integration with the Audience.... Such things only in the USA. Next time I will fly for such a concert straight from Poland :) after this account one wants to watch a fairy tale. Regards. Oh, what is your favourite song????
I love the film and this is a brilliant concert of the songs. Since we first watched it my kids have rewatched it a couple of times a day, I'm happy it's kept them entertained 😀. I don't know why the original film always makes me cry with emotion and this concert did the same. The dancers that were in each of the songs need to have a shout out too as they're fab too. Love the costumes too although I think Luisa's costume could have been a bit more in keeping with the character. Great finale too, with all the cast bowing etc. It's a shame some of the cast were unable to be there though as it would have been nice to see them all.
The set was magnificent! The costumes were marvelous! The flowers on stage were muy bien! But what was up with how poorly the performance era executed their parts and musical numbers??? They were off-key and often off-tempo. It all left me saying: Meh... The biggest mistake they made was Louisa's costuming choice. It looked like she was dressed for a completely different show. Like literally! She's not a great singer in the first place, but a lot of kids liked her character, so why didn't they make her look like Louisa to cover her flat voice??? I mean seriously, what a missed opportunity. No Johnny Leg to play Bruno? Garbage. This isn't my familia Madrigal.
I had to check this movie out because there has been a lot of hype on social media. For a Disney movie, I was disappointed. There was no storyline, the music was chaotic, and the movie was all over the place. The first song, I couldn't understand what was going on. The words were fast and half spoken in Spanish. I thought the music would get better, wrong, the music got worse. There was no need for the hype. The movie was just bad. I wouldn't recommend watching this movie in theater. I saw it on Disney Plus and I am glad I got to fast forward. Would I watch it again, no! The worst movie of all time. Even chicken little is better than this movie. I recommend everyone to not to watch it. Waste of time. Trash movie with annoying songs.
