Publisher's Summary In the newest installment of the best-selling series Mythos, legendary author and actor Stephen Fry moves from the exploits of the Olympian gods to the deeds of mortal heroes. Perseus. Jason. Atalanta. Theseus. Heracles. Rediscover the thrills, grandeur, and unabashed fun of the Greek myths. Whether recounting a tender love affair or a heroic triumph, Fry deftly finds resonance with our own modern minds and hearts.  Each adventure is infused with Fry's distinctive voice and writing style. Connoisseurs of the Greek myths will appreciate this fresh-yet-reverential interpretation, while newcomers will feel welcome.  Retellings brim with humor and emotion. "Mostly Chiron saw in the child, and the young man he became, boundless courage, athleticism, intelligence, and ambition. He saw too lots of words beginning with 'self', which gave him pause. Self-belief, self-possession, self-righteousness, self-confidence, self-love. Perhaps these characteristics are as necessary to a hero as courage." In Heroes, Fry draws out the humor and pathos in both tender love affairs and heroic battles, and reveals each myth's relevance for our own time. ©2020 Stephen Fry (P)2020 Chronicle Books

I hadn’t listened to volume one and it didn’t detract at all. An amazing performance and he really brought all the Greek hero’s in this story to life. A must listen for anyone even slightly interested in mythology.

Because I gave Mythos five stars. This was even better. Fry the writer is as good as Fry the reader/actor. His sense of myth and historycombined with his entertainment genes makes this the best of audiobooks I await the Trojan War with hope.

Great book and accurate details, ballistics and RC....man I'm a strait heterosexual man with a patchy beard that self identifies as a heterosexual man with a full beard, yet still with all this natural testosterone I have flowing from my manaexual body...RC Bray can still make my man nips leak milk. My cat who self identifies as a bisexuality confused goat, absolutely loves it. I have to put her, I mean him, in a dog kennel whenever I turn him on. #killedthisreview

What made me write this review is how he narrates alittle differently for Theseus than the other Heroes. He uses the f word and says “sh*t” instead of feces like he would have in other chapters. I thinks it’s awesome but alittle jarring when the rest of this book and Mythos he uses more eloquent words for describing sex and poop. Overall a good listen and I appreciate hearing his interpretation of the myths.

I grew up reading the stories of Greek myth, the childhood versions toned down for a younger audiences. This is something for the adult in me that longs for the classic adventure and drama that I experienced as a child.Masterfully told in a way that keeps me gripped to the stories.I cannot wait for the next installment!

This a wonderful narrative retelling of the major and lesser Greek heroes of mythology into a collection of easy to understand renderingsfor the modern listener or reader.Well worth the investment for anyone interested in this topic.

It's watered down version of mythology delivered by a cheeky Brit with no originality.

while Stephen Fry does a great job narrating the book...I didn't like the retellings at all.I don't think there was anything wrong with how Stephen rewrote the old stories, and peppered in cool tidbits.I do feel bored with greek mythology now...and that bums me out.
