The Baby Stealer / A Deadly View Movie all-around is dumb and unrealistic - like most Lifetime movies - but what ruined it entirely was the horribly miscast husband. He stood out like a sore fhumb throughout the entire thing even though he wasn't in every scene. ANYONE would have been MUCH better and more believable in the role. Why would they choose such an overweight, unattractive, jowly, whiny actor like him?? The pretty lead actress did not match at all with him as her husband - they didn't look right together. So that was off-putting from the start. The villain character was so badly-acted and boring that she made me yawn several times. And why was the wife so compliant to her mother-in-law's rules and commands? She wasn't in prison! She was a married woman in her own house. She should've stood up to her and told her to mind her own business. The husband and his witch mother acted like her parents to the point that she was increasingly in the role of their wayward child who needed constant discipline. So the whole thing was way off base and highly annoying with the wrong tone, bad acting, and bad casting - not to mention a rehashed-to-death plot point. And only in Lifetime World does a woman get shot in the back at fairly close range and jump back up a few minutes later and keep talking and moving around as if it never happened... *eyeroll* Grade F / 1 out of 10.
I enjoyed this movie. I thought the acting was good and was actually expecting a different outcome to the ending. I figured at the end it would turn out like a Rosemary's baby or something where the neighbors would all be in on stealing the baby. This is one of the better LMN movies I have watched and I do not miss any! I am a Lifetime Junkie.
Pretty much unwatchable. Fake acting crazy, freaky town people. Why would she put up with the mother-in-law from hell? Why would she marry a wimpy spineless momma's boy? Why why why? The biggest "why" is why did I watch this horrible movie?
I'm sorry but this was the worst movie I've ever watched on lifetime
This Lifetime movie started poorly. The script was subpar but SOME of the lead actors made up for it. Pregnant wife has a neighbor stalking her for a baby that she wants for her own. Where has Lifetime not done this trope over and over? Still, the ending was decent.
Why did I watch this piece of crap movie?? I can never get that time back. From the stupid new mom to the typical insane baby thief, this movie is a joke.
According to the information here on IMDB, this movie was made in 2018. It also does not show it as being a made for TV movie. But the guide on my DVR says it is a 2020 movie. It sure feels like a TV movie, one that Lifetime would create. My guess it that it failed miserably under the original title "A Deadly View", Lifetime got it, maybe did some editing, and re-released it as a 2020 movie with the new title "The Baby Stealer". Regardless, it is pretty bad. A recycled plot, with someone trying to steal a pregnant woman's baby. Gee, how original. The only semi-interesting part was the "Rear Window" aspect, where the pregnant woman watches the goings-on in her neighborhood, and no one believes what she says she sees. But as is so typical with these movies, the absurd ending ruined the entire movie. I'm only giving it 5 stars because of the "Rear Window" ripoff, which made it somewhat bearable. With that said, don't expect anything other than what you get from every other Lifetime movie.
Lead female was hard to,invest in & feel sympathy for. She was cold & unusual,as the neighbors themselves. For a pregnant woman ordered to bedrest, she was doing stupid stuff. Boyfriend(baby dad)& his mom dynamic was annoying, also he just didn't fit in this movie. He felt more like a quirky side character, not the lead male. Got"mildly"ok as the movie slowly crept, into around the remaining 30 minutes. This filled time until a better movie came on,just really was lacking for a decent storyline. The cinematography was good,so at least had that. Also Lifetime & title changes(not only this movie)gets bothersome, when looking up information about it.
Worst thing I've seen since I could use my eyes. Absolutely horrible. Please stop this people. Please.
Don't even waste your time. Lead actress was decent - the neighbor character - the worst acting I've ever witnessed. Absolutely horrible film.
