I accidentally ran across this title one night while randomly scrolling through things on Crunchyroll. It said "Zombie" so I said, "What the hell." What followed was a marat*n session fueled by Red Bull that saw me make my way through the first and second seasons of this wonderful little s*w. This was followed by regularly watching the s*w over, in both dub and sub. **Minor spoilers might follow... I don't think I am giving anything away, but fair warning.** I suffer from severe depression, and this series was one of the few things that managed to break through the funk. I'm insanely happy with it, except for 2 episodes which I feel break the w*le narrative flow too much. Episodes 8 and 9 of Zombie Land Saga Revenge, just mysteriously dives into the past. Well, for that matter, episode 10 deals with the past, too. Now, I *ld no ill will towards the Yugiri-centric 8th and 9th episode, I just feel like a single episode would have managed the story well enough, and got us back to what we are all watching for... Zombie Idols singing their hearts out. The one thing consistent between the subs and dubs is the music. They made no attempts to translate the songs into English, and it's perfect the way it is. Well, I s*uldn't say no effort. Mysteriously in Episode 11 of Zombie Land Saga Revenge, they attempt to translate parts of a song, I believe it was Mezame Returner, but I could be mistaken, I mean it has been a day since my last watch through, and it was time for the subtitles that time. All in all, I believe that if you like J-Pop, and are aren't put off by zombies played up for laughs, this is a great series. There are some genuine laugh out loud moments, including a callback visual gag in I believe the 11th episode. It also has some really heartfelt moments, Episode 8 of the original season comes to mind. It's Lily-centric, and it really drives *me what these girls are giving up to do what they are doing. Themes of friendship and loss permeate the entire series, making the zombie gals seem more human than the primary human character. Give it a try, and watch at least the first three episodes. The first one episode really just introduces the idea behind the s*w (And gives the girls their one hard rock s*w). The second episode breaks randomly into a rap battle, that is sublime in its execution. It isn't until the third episode that things begin to come together, and the great idols Franc*uc*u are born.
